Canada will allow family members of Open Work Permit (OWP) holders to take up jobs from 2023, Canadian Immigration Minister Sean Fraser said. Until now, spouses of such workers were only eligible for a work permit if the principal applicant was working in a high-skill occupation. “Family members of more than 2,00,000 foreign workers…will now be able to work,” Fraser informed in his tweet. Canada will expand eligibility to work in Canada to spouses and working-age children through a phased approach for workers at all skill levels. This would include families of workers in health care, trades and hospitality.
