Curiosity rover finds a mysterious rock composed of pure sulphur.......

Curiosity, NASA's Mars rover, is exploring Gediz Vallis, an ancient riverbed on Mount Sharp. This channel, formed by flowing water, puzzles scientists as it formed late in Mars' history, when the planet was already drying up.

One of the most intriguing discoveries is a field of white sulfur rocks. Upon breaking one, Curiosity revealed yellow crystals inside, confirming pure sulphur – a first for Mars. While sulfur is often linked to volcanic or hydrothermal activity on Earth, such evidence is absent at Mount Sharp.

Another mystery is Pinnacle Ridge, a debris mound shaped by rivers, flows, and avalanches. By studying these features, scientists aim to reconstruct the timeline of events in Gediz Vallis and gain insights into Mars' ancient climate and potential for past life.
