UP Mosque Survey Turns Violent, Three Dead, Many Injured including Cops......

 

        Tensions escalated in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, during the second survey of the Jama Masjid after locals threw stones at the police team. Police and security forces were deployed to maintain law & order as violence erupted amid claims that the mosque stands on the site of an ancient Hindu temple.

        Three individuals, namely Naeem, Bilal, and Noman, lost their lives in the violent clashes during the survey of a mosque in Sambhal district as confirmed by the Moradabad Divisional Commissioner Ananya Kumar. He also confirmed that 20 to 22 police personnel, including officials such as the Circle Officer of Sambhal, the PRO to SP Sambhal, and an SDM, also sustained injuries. Others injured suffered splinter wounds. Meanwhile, 15 individuals have been detained, he added.

        In response, the police used tear gas and "minor force" to disperse the crowd. Local authorities have assured that those involved in the violence, including instigators, will be identified and prosecuted. While the situation is currently under control, the survey is ongoing amidst heightened security measures.
