Manipur CM N Biren Singh resigns amid ongoing ethnic violence for 21 months.......

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh resigned from his post on Sunday, nearly two years after ethnic violence broke out in the state. The BJP leader formally submitted his resignation letter to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan in Imphal, marking the end of his tenure amid prolonged unrest.

Singh, who had been serving as the Chief Minister since 2017, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the state. In his letter, he acknowledged the central government's role in handling the crisis, implementing key developmental projects, and ensuring the welfare of all communities in Manipur. He also highlighted the various initiatives undertaken during his tenure to improve infrastructure, law and order, and economic growth despite the challenges posed by the ethnic strife.

His resignation comes at a time when tensions continue to persist, with many political analysts speculating on the future leadership in the state. While the BJP has yet to announce his successor, discussions are underway to appoint a new leader who can address the ongoing security and governance concerns.

Sources close to Singh indicate that his decision to step down was influenced by mounting pressure from various quarters, including civil society groups and opposition parties, who have been demanding a more effective approach to restoring peace in Manipur.

As the state awaits the appointment of a new Chief Minister, the focus remains on stabilizing the situation and fostering dialogue between the warring factions to bring lasting peace to the region.
