Pope Francis Calls for Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza…….
Pope Francis has urged an immediate stop to Israeli airstrikes on Gaza and called for renewed dialogue to free hostages and establish a lasting ceasefire. "I am deeply saddened by the intense bombardment of Gaza, which has caused so many deaths and injuries," the Pope said in his Angelus prayer on Sunday. He emphasized the urgent need to silence weapons and find the courage to resume peace talks.
The Pope also highlighted the
worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and urged both conflicting parties and
the international community to take immediate action. His message came as he
was discharged from Rome's Gemelli hospital after spending more than five weeks
battling pneumonia. Before leaving, he appeared on the hospital’s balcony,
greeting well-wishers with a smile and a thumbs-up.
"Thank you, everyone," he
said in a weak voice while sitting in a wheelchair. He noticed a woman holding
yellow flowers and acknowledged her with a small smile, bringing laughter from
the crowd. After a brief two-minute appearance, the 88-year-old Pontiff
returned to the Vatican.
